AIKO INFINITE modules surpass 1GW milestone in new orders
AIKO has announced the signing of over 1GW of new orders for its third-generation INFINITE modules during Intersolar Europe 2025.
Holosolis announced Europe's largest PV module gigafactory, to be built in Moselle, France. Aiming to accelerate Europe's solar PV manufacturing capabilities to ensure continental energy security, the new production site will see the capacity of Europe's current largest factory bested by almost 70%.
PV Module Shipments from China to the EU During January-October 2024, EU countries imported approximately 83 GW of PV modules from China, with total imports expected to be around 100 GW by the end of the year. These figures mostly align with 2023 levels, underscoring EU's continued reliance on Chinese-manufactured modules.
Some manufacturers have already announced their plans to start PV manufacturing in Europe. For instance, Carbon has announced plans to establish a Gigafactory with an annual production capacity of 5 GW for cells and 3.5 GW for modules in France by 2026/2027.
The PV market in the European Union (EU) has experienced remarkable growth, driven by the urgent need to transition to renewable energy and enhance energy security. Solar energy has emerged as a cornerstone of EU's strategy to achieve its climate goals and reduce dependence on fossil fuel imports.
