Alliant Energy's revolutionary Columbia Energy Storage Project, using Energy Dome's safe, reliable CO2 battery, represents a significant advancement in energy storage while bolstering the power grid to benefit Wisconsin customers.
Development of the Columbia Energy Storage Project is led by Alliant Energy in partnership with Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, and Madison Gas and Electric.
Construction is expected to begin in 2026 and be completed by the end of 2027. The addition of energy storage capacity is part of Alliant Energy's Energy Blueprint, the company's long-term plan to expand generation capacity with a balanced mix of energy resources.
